Preparation depends on the scan. Abdominal ultrasound may require fasting (typically 6-8 hours). Pelvic ultrasound may require a full bladder. Thyroid, breast, and musculoskeletal ultrasound usually need little or no preparation. Your GP or the imaging provider will advise specific preparation instructions before your appointment.

No. 3D and 4D pregnancy ultrasound is typically provided by OBGYN clinics or specialised imaging centres. For pregnancy-specific ultrasound, we recommend seeing your obstetrician directly. We can provide a referral letter if helpful.

Yes. The imaging provider provides a radiologist report. You return to Mediway for a follow-up consultation where the GP explains findings in plain language, flags anything needing action, and coordinates next steps, including specialist referral if appropriate.
