Student Pass Medical Check-Up
For foreigners that wish to study in Singapore.
The Student Pass holder has to undergo a medical examination and be certified fit to study in Singapore.
The Full Medical Examination Process To Apply For A Student Pass
The student pass holder’s Passport will need to be presented together with the In Principle Approval Form and Medical Form. Payment will then need to be paid in either cash or by nets from the student pass holder. The student pass holder will then be asked to take a seat while waiting for his/her registration process to be complete.
The front desk staff will then proceed to register the student pass holder in the clinic system and print out the student pass holder’s receipt and name labels. The front desk staff will then return the In principle approval form and passport to the student pass holder. The staff will also pass the official receipt and name labels to the student pass holder. The front desk staff will then direct the student pass holder to the Measurements Station where a nurse will take over.
Once the student pass holder is at the measurements station, the nurse will check the medical check requirements of the student pass holder which will differ depending on the pass he/she is applying for. The student pass holder will then undergo a physical check from the doctor or nurse (with doctor supervising).
Once the physical check and/or measurements are taken, the student pass holder will be asked to sign on our student pass holder record form which is kept by the clinic, the student pass holder’s record form will have details on all measurements & medical condition if any of the student pass holder at the time of the medical check. For females, the pass holder needs to declare whether she is pregnant or not because if she is pregnant, she will not be able to get her x-ray done until she is no longer pregnant.
During this whole measurement process, our full time doctor will be doing physical examinations on every student pass holderand/or to supervise his nurses either when they carry out the measurement tests to ensure quality assurance. Once all the measurements are taken and the medical forms signed by the student pass holder, the student pass holder will then proceed to take their chest x-ray. The student pass holder will also be passed a tube for their HIV blood test.
3. X-Ray Imaging
At the X-Ray Imaging station, the radiographer will then proceed to ask the student pass holder to remove his shirt inside the x-ray room and the student pass holder will be positioned properly for the x-ray image to be taken.
If the student pass holder is a female, she will be asked to remove her top (including her bra) and to change into our x-ray gown inside the female changing room. Once she is wearing the x-ray gown, the radiographer will proceed to position her inside the x-ray room for the image to be taken.
The radiographer will then inform the student pass holder to hold their breath upon instruction before taking their image as the student pass holder is required to have their lungs filled with air for their chest x-ray image to be correctly taken for an accurate assessment.
This process of taking the image only takes a couple of seconds after which the student pass holder can then wear back their top and proceed to the final station being the blood taking station.
4. Blood Taking
The final station is where the student pass holder will have their blood drawn to test for HIV. This blood taking will be done by our very experienced nurse and certified phlebotomist trainer of over 20 years. The process will take less than a minute and is quite a painless experience. But of course there are student pass holders who have a very weak blood flow or extremely tiny veins and thus the process may take a few minutes longer.
After the blood is drawn, the nurse will place a plaster on the blood drawn area, the student pass holder will then need to apply a little pressure on that point for about 5 minutes before removing the plaster. The student pass holder after completing the whole medical check-up process can proceed to leave the clinic.
