Simple scans (CT Sinus Screen) start at $272. Standard scans (CT Brain, CT Abdomen) are around $577. Complex CTA (angiogram) studies are $1,000-$1,800. Mediway GP consultation is $38. All prices GST-inclusive.
What is a CT scan?
CT (Computed Tomography) uses X-rays taken from many angles and computer processing to produce cross-sectional ("slice") images of the body. It is faster than MRI and provides excellent detail for bones, lungs, abdominal organs, and acute conditions like trauma or internal bleeding.
Modern CT uses low-dose protocols and AI-enhanced reconstruction that significantly reduce radiation exposure compared to older machines while maintaining image quality. Contrast (iodinated dye injected into a vein) is used for CTA (angiogram) studies and some organ scans to enhance blood vessels and soft tissue visibility.
At Mediway Medical Centre, CT scans are arranged through our referral network. Your GP assesses symptoms, recommends the right CT protocol, and issues a referral letter to our accredited imaging partner. Results return to us. You review findings with the Mediway GP at a follow-up consultation.

How to get a CT scan at Mediway
Three-step process. Assessment and interpretation at Mediway; scan at our accredited imaging partner.
Consultation ($38)
GP assesses symptoms, confirms CT is the right imaging, and issues a referral letter with specific protocol (with or without contrast, multi-phase, etc.).
Scan at partner centre
Attend Radlink, our accredited imaging partner. Scan takes 5-15 minutes. Allow 30-45 minutes for preparation, scan, and post-scan observation.
Report & review at Mediway
Partner radiologist's report returns in 3-7 working days. Return to Mediway for follow-up. The GP explains findings, flags anything needing action, and coordinates next steps.
How to prepare
Preparation varies by scan type. The imaging partner will send specific instructions at booking, with a summary below.
Contrast and pregnancy safety
Contrast reactions are uncommon. Inform your doctor of kidney disease, thyroid disease, asthma, or previous contrast reactions before the scan. Alternative protocols may be considered.
Pregnancy: CT uses ionising radiation and is typically avoided during pregnancy unless clinically essential. Always inform your doctor if you may be pregnant. Ultrasound or MRI are preferred where clinically appropriate.
Frequently asked questions
01 How much does a CT scan cost in Singapore?
CT scan prices in Singapore range from $272 to over $2,300 at accredited imaging partners, depending on body area, contrast, and scan complexity. Simple scans (CT Sinus Screen) start at $272. Standard scans (CT Brain, CT Abdomen) are around $577. Complex CTA studies are $1,000-$1,800. Maximum complex studies (e.g. CT Pulsatile Tinnitus) can reach $2,289. Plus $38 GP consultation. All prices GST-inclusive. Prices are subject to change and may vary depending on individual clinical needs. Please contact us for the latest pricing.
02 What is a CT scan?
CT (Computed Tomography) uses X-rays from many angles to create cross-sectional images of the body. Faster than MRI, excellent for bones, lungs, and internal organs. Many modern CT scanners use dose-reduction techniques to reduce radiation exposure while maintaining diagnostic image quality.
03 Is a CT scan safe?
CT uses higher radiation than X-ray (typically 2-10 mSv depending on body area) but far less than older machines due to modern dose-reduction technology. Risk is low relative to clinical benefit when appropriately ordered. Typically avoided during pregnancy unless essential.
04 Do I need a GP referral for a CT scan?
Yes. A GP consultation ($38) assesses your symptoms, confirms CT is the appropriate imaging, and issues a referral letter. Most imaging centres require a referral for CT, and the referral ensures the correct scan protocol.
05 How long does a CT scan take?
The scan itself takes 5-15 minutes. Including preparation, positioning, and post-scan observation, allow 30-45 minutes at the imaging centre. Results return in 3-7 working days from the partner radiologist.
06 Do I need contrast for my CT?
Contrast (iodinated dye injected into a vein) helps visualise blood vessels, organs, and tumours. Required for CTA (angiogram) and common for abdomen, pelvis, and multi-phase organ scans. Your GP and the imaging partner determine the need at referral. Contrast may not be suitable for everyone. Inform your doctor if you have kidney disease, thyroid conditions, previous contrast reactions, or significant allergies.
07 Do I need to prepare for a CT scan?
Preparation depends on the scan. Contrast studies typically require 4-6 hours fasting. CT Virtual Colonoscopy requires full bowel preparation (additional $100 prep cost). Sinus, spine, and joint CT usually need no preparation. The imaging partner will send specific instructions at booking.
08 Can I use Medisave for a CT scan?
Medisave use depends on the scan type, clinical indication, and whether the imaging provider is approved for the relevant claim. It may apply to selected outpatient CT scans, but not every scan or screening use is claimable. Please confirm eligibility with the imaging partner before your scan.
09 Will Mediway interpret my CT results?
Yes. Partner imaging centres provide a radiologist report. You return to Mediway for a follow-up consultation where the GP explains findings in plain language, flags anything needing action, and coordinates next steps, including specialist referral if appropriate.
10 Is CT covered by private insurance?
Coverage varies by policy. CT ordered for symptom investigation is typically covered; screening CT (e.g. lung screening without symptoms) may not be. We provide itemised receipts for insurance submission.
