- Urine tests: Hold your urine for at least 1–2 hours before your appointment.
- Blood tests: No fasting required.
For female patients
- Vaginal swab: Schedule for when you're not menstruating, ideally 3 to 5 days after your period ends.
- It's recommended to wear a skirt on the day of screening for convenience.

No records shared with insurers or employers by default
STD test results are not shared with insurers, employers, or other third parties unless you specifically request it (for example, for premarital screening certification). Note: Singapore’s Infectious Diseases Act requires clinics to notify MOH of certain reportable infections (such as HIV, syphilis, gonorrhoea, chlamydia, hepatitis B and C). This is a legal requirement, not insurance disclosure.
Self-pay option
Pay privately without using any insurance or corporate benefit, which keeps the visit entirely outside those systems.

01How much does an STD test cost in Singapore at Mediway?
STD testing at Mediway starts from $55 for the Assure 1 basic panel (HIV, Syphilis and Hepatitis B, 5 tests), up to $460 for the comprehensive Assure 10 panel (19 tests covering blood, PCR, swab and culture). All prices are inclusive of GST. Consultation is optional at $38 if you'd like guidance or to discuss results.
02Do I have to see a doctor before taking the test?
No. If you know which Assure panel you want, you can book and test directly without a consultation. If you'd like guidance on panel selection, or want to discuss results afterwards, consultation is available at $38.
03How fast will I get my results?
Results are typically ready in 1 to 5 working days. PCR tests (Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea) usually come back in 1 to 2 days; cultures and broader bacterial panels take 3 to 5 days. Results are delivered by phone call, WhatsApp, or email, whichever you prefer.
04What happens if I test positive?
A positive result is not an emergency and does not require going to another clinic. Most STDs in Singapore are treatable, and many are fully curable. Treatment is provided at our clinic directly, with no referral needed. See our STD treatment page for what we handle on-site.
05Can I pay self-pay to keep it private from my insurance?
Yes. Many patients choose self-pay to keep STD testing entirely outside insurance systems. We accept cash, NETS, and major credit cards. Self-pay means no record is shared with any insurer, employer, or corporate benefit provider.
06Can I use my corporate insurance card?
Yes, for the consultation portion if applicable. However, many patients prefer self-pay for privacy reasons. If you plan to claim, please confirm your insurer's STD-testing coverage before your visit, as coverage varies by policy.
07Is there an option for completely anonymous testing?
You can test under your real identity with full PDPA confidentiality (results only shared with you unless you explicitly request otherwise), or opt for self-pay to keep the visit outside insurance and health records. For specific anonymous testing queries, please WhatsApp our team before booking.
08Do I need to bring anything to my appointment?
Just a photo ID. No fasting required. If your panel includes a urine test, hold your urine for at least 1–2 hours before arriving. Female patients booking a vaginal swab should schedule 3 to 5 days after their period ends.
