At Mediway, Hep B vaccine is from $50 per dose indicative. The full 3-dose course is from $150. Twinrix (combined Hep A + B) is from $120 per dose. Mediway GP consultation is $38 first visit. MediSave can be used up to $500/year (or $700/year for those 60+) against eligible outpatient vaccinations under MediSave 500/700 / Flexi-MediSave when clinically indicated.
Hepatitis B is a serious liver infection caused by the Hepatitis B virus (HBV). It spreads through blood, sexual contact, and mother-to-child transmission. Chronic infection can lead to liver cirrhosis, liver failure, or liver cancer over years.
The Hepatitis B vaccine is a recombinant vaccine. It uses a harmless portion of the HBV surface protein to train your immune system. It contains no live virus and cannot cause Hepatitis B infection. Three doses produce long-lasting immunity in ~95% of healthy adults.
Singapore's universal infant Hepatitis B vaccination has been part of the NCIS since 1987. Adults born before 1987 (or anyone unsure of vaccination history) should consider vaccination, especially if they have risk factors (healthcare work, multiple partners, household contact with a carrier, frequent travel to endemic regions).
At Mediway, we administer Hepatitis B vaccine on-site using quadrivalent recombinant vaccines. All vaccinations are automatically uploaded to the National Immunisation Registry (NIR) and visible on your HealthHub record.
The standard 3-dose schedule works for most people. Accelerated options are available when you need protection faster (e.g. travel, work-pass deadline).
Highest long-term immunity. Total course: 6 months. Recommended for healthcare workers, pre-conception planning, and routine adult catch-up.
Protection starts faster. 4 doses total. Useful if you need protection before travel to endemic areas or before starting high-exposure work.
Fastest initial protection (within 3 weeks). 4 doses total. For urgent travel, imminent healthcare exposure, or post-exposure prophylaxis schedules. Requires the 12-month booster for long-term immunity.
Which schedule is right for you? The standard schedule has the strongest long-term immunity and is most commonly used. Accelerated schedules are chosen when timing is critical. Your GP will recommend based on your situation at consultation.
Singapore MOH recommends Hepatitis B vaccination for adults at risk and those with incomplete childhood vaccination. Generally safe and recommended for most adults.
Some Singapore employers (particularly in healthcare, food services, childcare, and dialysis) require proof of Hepatitis B vaccination or immunity as part of pre-employment medical screening. Work-pass applications may also require Hep B status. If you are applying for a work pass or in a healthcare-adjacent role, consider pre-vaccination testing (HBsAg + anti-HBs) to confirm your current status before starting the vaccination series.
Pre-conception planning: couples planning pregnancy should both be screened for Hep B. If one partner is a carrier, the other should be vaccinated and the infant will need protection at birth.
Most people develop protective immunity after 3 doses. For high-risk individuals, post-vaccination testing confirms immunity.
After completing the 3-dose schedule, an anti-HBs blood test 1-2 months after the last dose checks your immune response:
Who should get post-vaccination testing? Healthcare workers, household contacts of Hep B carriers, dialysis patients, immunocompromised individuals, and infants born to Hep B-positive mothers. Routine post-vaccination testing is not necessary for low-risk adults. Anti-HBs antibody test: from $10 indicative (NETT, GST inclusive at most clinics).
Boosters: For most people with confirmed seroconversion, boosters are not routinely needed. Protection is considered long-lasting (15+ years and likely lifelong). Exceptions include dialysis patients and immunocompromised individuals, who may need periodic anti-HBs monitoring and boosters as indicated.
Twinrix is a combined vaccine offering protection against both Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B in a single injection.
If you need both Hep A and Hep B vaccination (common for travellers to endemic areas or people at risk from both routes), Twinrix is convenient: same 3-dose schedule, one injection per visit. Per-dose price is slightly higher than Hep B alone, but saves on extra Hep A injections.
Discuss Twinrix availability at consultation; our team will advise whether Twinrix or separate Hep A and Hep B vaccines suit your situation.

GP consultation ($38) reviews your Hep B risk, existing vaccination records, and confirms the right schedule (standard / accelerated / super-accelerated). Pre-vaccination testing offered if status unknown.
First dose administered on-site, intramuscular injection in upper arm. Takes 5 minutes. Observation for 15 minutes after.
We schedule follow-up doses at the correct intervals and send reminders. Each subsequent visit takes 10-15 minutes.
For high-risk individuals (healthcare workers, household contacts), anti-HBs blood test 1-2 months after dose 3 confirms seroconversion. NIR auto-upload for all doses.
What to bring: NRIC / passport / work pass, existing vaccination records (if any), list of current medications, insurance card (if applicable). Inform us of pregnancy, severe allergies, or bleeding disorders.
Hep B vaccine is from $50 per dose indicative. The full 3-dose course is from $150. Twinrix (combined Hep A + B) is from $120 per dose. Mediway GP consultation is $38 first visit. MediSave can be used when clinically indicated.
Standard schedule is 3 doses at 0, 1, and 6 months. Accelerated schedule: 0, 1, 2 months plus 12-month booster (4 doses). Super-accelerated: 0, 7, 21 days plus 12-month booster. Choice depends on timing and clinical indication.
Healthcare workers, people with multiple sexual partners, men who have sex with men, household contacts of Hep B carriers, injection drug users, travellers to endemic areas, dialysis patients, people with chronic liver disease, adults born before 1987 (pre-NCIS), and work pass applicants requiring Hep B status.
Not required, but recommended for adults with unknown status. Pre-vaccination HBsAg (active infection) and anti-HBs (existing immunity) testing avoids unnecessary vaccination if already immune or already infected. Particularly important if childhood vaccination records are uncertain.

For most people with confirmed seroconversion (anti-HBs ≥10 mIU/mL), boosters are not routinely needed. Protection is long-lasting. Exceptions: dialysis patients, immunocompromised individuals. Post-vaccination testing 1-2 months after dose 3 confirms immunity.
Don't restart. Delayed doses can be given as soon as possible. Minimum intervals: 4 weeks between dose 1 and 2; 8 weeks between dose 2 and 3; 16 weeks between dose 1 and 3. Your GP will adjust your schedule.
