Health Screening and Full Body Check Up FAQs

01 What is health screening, and is it the same as a full body check-up?

Health screening, often called a full body check-up in Singapore, is a set of tests that look at common health markers in people who feel well, with the aim of finding early signs of disease before symptoms appear. The two terms are generally used interchangeably and refer to the same type of preventive medical assessment. Tests usually include blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol, kidney and liver function, and other markers depending on the package chosen.

02 What does a health screening package usually include?

A typical health screening package combines a doctor's review with a panel of tests. Common components include vital signs (blood pressure, BMI), blood tests (full blood count, glucose, cholesterol, liver and kidney function), and urine analysis. Depending on the package, additional tests such as thyroid function, hormones, infectious-disease serology, ECG, chest X-ray, or specialist add-ons may be included. More comprehensive packages add tumour markers, cardiac risk profiling, and vitamin level checks.

03 Which health screening package should I choose?

The right package depends on what you want to check, your personal and family medical history, lifestyle factors, and any current concerns. A more basic package is suitable for people without specific concerns who want a starting point, while a more comprehensive package adds tests that may help identify a wider range of health risks. Our team can help you compare the packages on this page and choose one that fits your needs.

04 How much does health screening cost at Mediway?

Mediway offers seven health screening packages ranging from $30 (Basic, 10 tests) to $780 (Prestige+, 82 tests). Mid-tier packages are priced from $80 to $300 and progressively add more tests such as kidney function, thyroid, hormones, and imaging. All prices are GST-inclusive and subject to change. Full package details and the test comparison table are shown above on this page. We recommend booking your health screening in advance so we can confirm package selection, any fasting, and timing.

05 How often should I go for health screening, and at what age should I start?

Screening frequency depends on your age, sex, personal risk factors, family history, and previous results. Adults in their 20s and 30s may consider a baseline screen; from age 40 onwards, more regular checks for blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes risk, and other age-appropriate screening are usually recommended. Singapore's national screening guidance can serve as a useful starting point, but your doctor can advise based on your age, risk factors, family history, and previous results.

06 Do I need to fast or prepare before health screening?

No fasting is required for any of Mediway's standard health screening packages. Please bring an identification document (NRIC, work pass, or passport) for verification. For accurate blood pressure measurements, try to have at least 8 hours of good rest before your appointment. If specific add-on tests are arranged that need fasting, our team will let you know in advance.

07 Can I take my daily medication or supplements before screening?

You may usually continue prescribed medication with plain water before your appointment unless your doctor has advised otherwise. Please tell our team what medication or supplements you take, especially diabetes medication, blood thinners, high-dose biotin, hormone supplements, or regular vitamins, as some may affect specific results.

08 How long does health screening take, and when will I get my results?

The screening visit usually takes about 30 to 40 minutes. Most reports are sent via WhatsApp within 3 to 7 working days, depending on the tests included. A doctor's review of the results is included so any abnormal findings can be explained and follow-up advice given. You can walk in subject to availability, but advance booking helps reduce wait time and confirm your package selection.

09 Are mammograms, treadmill ECG, ultrasounds, and Pap smears included?

These tests are not part of the standard health screening packages. We offer related services separately, including Pap smear and additional serology tests, and we can arrange referrals where ultrasound, mammogram, or treadmill ECG is required. If you would like one of these tests included with your screening, please contact our team via WhatsApp at 8779 9898 and we will help arrange it.

10 Is health screening covered by insurance, MediSave, CHAS, or Healthier SG?

Coverage depends on the type of screening, whether it is physician-recommended, your insurer's policy, and current subsidy or MediSave rules. Some physician-recommended health screenings may be MediSave-claimable at participating medical institutions, but many private screening packages are billed separately. Healthier SG Screening and CHAS subsidies apply at participating CHAS GP clinics. Mediway operates as a private medical centre and is not currently a CHAS or Healthier SG enrolled clinic, so our health screening packages are billed at private rates. We provide itemised receipts for insurance submission.
