Measles Serology Test

Check Your Immunity Against Measles with a Simple Blood Test

A Measles Serology Test is a blood test that checks whether you are immune to measles by detecting measles-specific antibodies. This test is commonly required for employment health screening, school admission, travel clearance, and now increasingly for household safety regulations.

🧍‍♂️ Who Needs This Test?

You may need a Measles Serology Test if you are:

  • 💼 Starting a new job (especially in healthcare, childcare, or domestic work)

  • ✈️ Traveling to countries with strict immunisation or visa requirements

  • 🤰 Planning for pregnancy or prenatal screening

  • 🏫 Enrolling in a school or university

  • ❓ Unsure of your vaccination or past infection history

🧪 What Is the Measles Serology Test?

The test typically measures:

  • IgG (Immunoglobulin G) – Indicates long-term immunity from past infection or vaccination

  • IgM (Immunoglobulin M) – Indicates a recent or current measles infection

Most people take the IgG test to confirm their immunity, especially when proof is needed for school, work, or travel. Our clinic uses the IgG antibody test to verify your measles immunity status quickly and reliably.

🆕 New Requirement for Migrant Domestic Workers in Singapore

As of June 2025, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) requires new migrant domestic workers to be vaccinated against measles — or prove immunity — if they are going to work in households with infants under one year old.

📌 “From June 2025, newly arriving MDWs must be vaccinated against measles or show proof of immunity before deployment in households with babies under one year old.”
Channel News Asia

A Measles IgG blood test provides sufficient proof of immunity, eliminating the need for unnecessary vaccination if antibodies are already present.

This makes the test especially important for employers of domestic workers and employment agencies handling placement.

🛡️ Why Check Your Immunity?

Even in a highly vaccinated population like Singapore, immunity can wane or records may be missing. Testing is a safe and affordable way to:

  • Confirm if re-vaccination is necessary

  • Comply with MOM regulations

  • Prevent unnecessary vaccine doses

  • Ensure protection for infants and vulnerable individuals
