MMR Vaccine Singapore - Measles, Mumps & Rubella Immunisation

Protect Yourself & Your Loved Ones Against Measles, Mumps & Rubella

💉 What Is the MMR Vaccine?

The MMR vaccine is a 3-in-1 immunisation that trains your immune system to protect against:

  • Measles – Highly contagious respiratory illness with risks of pneumonia and brain inflammation.

  • Mumps – Causes facial swelling, fever, and complications like hearing loss or infertility.

  • Rubella (German Measles) – Mild in children but dangerous for unborn babies if contracted during pregnancy.

MMR Vaccine in Singapore for Adults

Adults

  • Adults who missed childhood vaccination or lack immunity should receive two doses, at least 4 weeks apart.

  • This is especially important for women planning pregnancy, healthcare workers, and travellers.

Preconception Women

  • Women should avoid pregnancy for at least 1 month after receiving the MMR vaccine.

📰 New Regulations: Measles Vaccination Now Mandatory for Migrant Domestic Workers

As of September 2025, the Singapore Ministry of Manpower (MOM) has made measles vaccination mandatory for all migrant domestic workers (MDWs) who will be working in households with young children under 1 year old.

This move follows rising concerns about infectious disease protection in vulnerable groups, especially infants who are not yet eligible for the MMR vaccine.

📌 “From June 2025, newly arriving MDWs must be vaccinated against measles or show proof of immunity before deployment in households with babies under one year old.”

🧪 Proof of Immunity Through Serology Testing

MOM allows workers to present serology test results as proof of prior immunity instead of re-vaccination. A Measles IgG blood test can confirm if the domestic worker is already immune and does not need an additional jab.

This makes measles serology testing a critical step in:

    • Complying with MOM regulations

    • Avoiding unnecessary vaccinations

    • Ensuring safe environments for infants at home
